Everyone wants a good quality audio experience from their TV. The entire purpose behind getting a TV is to hear and see the news; it doesn’t do any good if your TV doesn’t have an audio output.
Good audio quality changes your entire viewing experience. It makes watching the movie and other entertaining stuff more fun and special. Especially when you are watching a movie with your friends, good quality sound takes it to another level. You also enjoy listening to music and gaming with your enhanced audio experience.
You may be thinking that connecting the soundbar to your TV is a technical thing and you might need an expert to do this work for you, but I assure you it is not complicated at all. If you go through this short article, you will get to know exactly how easy it is. So, let’s get started
Methods to connect the soundbar to TV without an audio output
Some traditional, as well as smart TVs, do not support audio jacks to export audio there are several ways in which you connect your soundbar with your TV without audio output.
1. Audio converter:
Some smart TVs have limited audio jacks which limit the external audio options. A Digital to analog audio converter is a device that can be bought separately. With the help of this device, you can easily gain access to multiple options like Coaxial, RCA, and optical fiber.
This device needs a USB/DC power cord. The main unit of the device is connected to a TV with a simple RCA cable. The adapter comes with a headphone jack, SPDIF port, Coaxial, and RCA to connect with your soundbar.
2. HDMI audio extractor:
An HDMI is an external device that can also be connected to your TV providing an extra set of external audio ports. This device is powered by a USB source. To connect, plug your TV box into the HDMI port labeled “Input” on the back of the extractor. Then take another HDMI cable, and connect one end into the AV output port on the extractor, and the other end to the HDMI port on the TV.
Now you can turn on your TV and be able to watch from the TV box as usual. Finally, you may plug your soundbar or stereo receiver into one of the audio ports in the back of the extractor and just like that, you are good to go.
3. Using Bluetooth:
Smart TVs are now Bluetooth adaptive. If you don’t want to tangle yourself with wires, change your TV’s audio mode into Bluetooth and connect your soundbars with it. But Bluetooth-supported audio for TV screens is not a healthy option as it is not the best way to transfer sound you can get a lot of distortion and Bluetooth devices mostly rely on charging, which can be a big issue for some people.
4. HDMI cables:
If your TV is not older than 8 years, then I am sure that it comes with a pre-installed HDMI port. HDMI usually gives the best sound quality. Make sure both your TV and soundbar support ARC (Audio Return Channel), and can usually tell by looking at the labels on your device.
If everything is directly connected to your soundbar, you can have the best possible sound quality. Your soundbar should be in ARC input and you also want to make sure that HDMI-CEC is enabled on your TV since that is required for ARC support in some TVs.
5. Optical connection:
Since some soundbars do not have HDMI or some smart TVs do not support ARC input, optical is probably the simplest way to connect your soundbar as most TVs have an optical output.
All you need to do is buy a TOSLINK cable and set your soundbar into optical input mode. With this method, you never have a problem with the sound because your TV will send everything through the optical to your soundbar.
6: Coax or Coaxial:
Another way to connect your TV to your soundbar is using the coaxial connection because the older TVs used this. Coax is just like optical but it uses RCA cable instead of TOSLINK but everything else is the same.
7. Stereo connection:
With a stereo connection, you don’t have to change any settings on the TV and can simply connect it. But keep in mind that this system does not support surround sound effect since it’s just a simple stereo connection
Conclusion:
Now you know how to connect a soundbar with your TV without having an audio output. So now you can easily connect your soundbar with any of the above-mentioned methods.
